I know of no other way
to be than just as I am. Yes, in your eyes, I am different.
I want... you to know that I am different and yet very much
like anyone else. I am gay and I am very, very happy. If I
had to do it all over again, I would choose to be who I am
now.. It has not always been easy being gay and hiding, lying...,
pretending I was not who I am.

Relationships, jobs,
health concerns, coming out, self esteem - these are just
some of the problems and challenges many gay or bisexual men
experience. Talking often helps, especially with someone who
has been there and can relate to your concerns.
It is sometimes difficult for gay or bisexual
men to fine someone who understand the special problems that
often go along with being gay. And for some, professional
counseling is not an option. The Gay Men's Peer Counseling
group of Whitman-Walker Clinic, established by a group of
volunteers in 1976, exists to meet these needs.
