| Talking often helps, especially
when talking with men who have experienced the kind of problem
that you are facing. Our counselors will listen to you and
can relate first-hand to you and your concerns. Solutions
to problems seldom come easily, but if you are like most,
it will be reassuring and encouraging just to talk with someone
who is ready to listen and help you explore options.
Gay Men's Peer Counseling offers short-term,
goal oriented counseling for individuals facing such issues
such as:
- Coming out
- Self esteem
- Intimacy
- Health concerns
- Work-related issues
- Family Issues
- Making Friends
- Religion
There are some issues that we cannot address.
If you are facing such issues, we can refer you to someone
who can help. These issues include:
- Substance abuse
- Clinical mental health diagnoses
- Suicidality
We also offer
couples counseling for couples facing relationship issues.
In addition to the the individual and couples counseling,
Gay Men's Peer Counseling of Whitman-Walker Clinic offers
groups, including:
- Intimacy Groups
- Maybe Baby Groups
- Spirituality Groups
Our trained counselors can help you regardless
of your race, age, marital status, disability, or comfort
level in the gay community. Perhaps you want to talk because
you are not sure you are gay. Our counselors will listen and
offer reassurance and encouragement to help you explore all
options.
At times, there is a waiting list to obtain
a counselor due to the number of calls received. If we are
unable to help you due to client load or because you are facing
an issue with which we cannot assist you, we can refer you
to others who can. |
